For Cole and Amber, it all started at a gymnastics party while they were attending the University of Michigan. In a story they still laugh about today, one of their first conversations involved her jokingly advising Cole to break up with his high school girlfriend. Neither of them could have imagined that just a few months later, fate would make them next-door neighbors.
As neighbors, they became best friends, building the kind of relationship rooted in trust, laughter, and genuine friendship. Years later, that friendship naturally evolved into something more.
"I don't think anyone was surprised when we ended up dating years later!" she laughs.
Their Experience with The Diamond Room 💎
When it came time to design their wedding rings, they knew they wanted pieces that reflected not only their personal style but also the story they had built together.
For Cole and Amber, finding the right jeweler after moving to a new area initially felt overwhelming. They spent time reading reviews, hoping to find someone they could trust with one of life's biggest milestones.
The moment they walked into The Diamond Room, they knew they had found the right place.
"We immediately felt like family and like we were in great hands."
Amber had always been drawn to vintage-inspired jewelry. She envisioned a ring with timeless character and delicate floral influences without feeling overly traditional. More importantly, she wanted a design that felt uniquely hers.
Working closely with Ken, that vision came to life.
"Ken absolutely nailed it on my ring."
One of the most meaningful elements of her ring is the marquise diamond passed down from her mother. Transforming a treasured family heirloom into the centerpiece of her engagement ring made the design even more personal.
Cole's ring took an unexpected direction as well. He originally came into The Diamond Room expecting to choose a simple tungsten band, but after collaborating with Ken, his creativity began to unfold. Together they designed a custom rose gold band featuring sapphire and wood elements—a ring that perfectly reflected his personality.
In fact, he loved it so much that he couldn't wait until the wedding day to start wearing it.
The couple also wanted their rings to tell a deeper story. They incorporated each other's birthstones into the designs, adding a peekaboo tourmaline to her ring and sapphire to his band.
"We absolutely love knowing that we have a little piece of each other in our rings."
When the finished rings were finally revealed, they exceeded every expectation.
Their custom design journey didn't end there. Since her mother's diamond had become part of the engagement ring, they wanted to preserve the original ring's legacy as well, creating a custom necklace that honored the original design while giving it new life. Today, her mother wears that necklace every day—a meaningful reminder that jewelry can connect generations.

Throughout the design process, Ken, Laura, and the entire Diamond Room team took the time to understand their vision, encourage creativity, and create rings that were truly one of a kind.

"Our wedding weekend could not have been more true to us. We value the little moments, community, and never taking ourselves too seriously. I'd remarry Cole over and over again."
Today, they still enjoy stopping by The Diamond Room to say hello, and they've already referred friends and family members for custom jewelry projects of their own.
